St Andrews Church Weaverthorpe
Sitting high over looking the village is the beautiful St Andrews church. Built in the 11th century and retaining its original Norman layout with a west tower, chancel and nave. Originally the church was built next to the manor house which is long since gone, giving it now an appearance of isolation. Constructed in square ashlar stone with walls varying in thickness from 2 to 3ft. Over the years various renovations have been carried out with a larger restoration in the 18th century when Sir Tatton Sykes paid G.E Street to restore the church. It is a beautiful church both inside and out and if you happen to be in or visiting the village it is worth a look and steeped in history.
